Skagit County has approximately 1 million acres of land

Only 88,000 are specifically set aside as Agricultural – Natural Resource Land.  This land can only be used for agricultural activities, to protect the largest remaining farming community in the Puget Sound region.  Our farmland produces safe, local, and diverse food and garden crops right here, in the Skagit Valley.

Preserving agricultural land is a top priority to residents

Skagit County citizens believe preserving agricultural land is the #1 priority over the next 20 years, as found by the Skagit County survey conducted in 2024.

Skagit has been protecting its farmland for over 35 years

Skagit County has an active program, known as Farmland Legacy Program, supported by taxpayers, dedicated to protecting farmland from development.  Since 1989, Skagitonians to Preserve Farmland advocates, educates, and conserves farmland in the Skagit Valley.

Farmland is NOT the right choice for power projects in Skagit County
